Bit Yoga - A Micro Self-Care Practice

Medha Inc.’s mindfulness and meditation program, Bit Yoga, is a micro self-care practice based in the ancient system of Yoga, which is much more than a set of poses.  Intended to be an entire lifestyle and way of working and living, at its core is mind-body wellness using simple, pragmatic tools and methods – no prerequisite or adopting of religious beliefs required. 

All that’s needed is practice and regular integration of brief techniques or “bits” that are more easily understood and digestible. Bit Yoga looks to weave vital self-care into busy lives by incorporating a handful of mindful moments throughout the day that could include a variety of simple methods for:

·       proper posture and regular movement

·      mindfulness or focusing of intention and attention

·       conscious breathing

·      meditation 

Creating a micro-practice in this way has a powerful compounding effect.  The key to Bit Yoga is regularity over duration as it’s consistency that establishes new patterns and habits.  With this in mind, we eliminate lofty goals or unreasonable expectations and in a matter of time, shed patterns of stress and anxiety allowing happiness, vitality and success to come more easily.

Meditation - Moving Beyond the Mind & Senses

Meditation, a practice of withdrawing from the five senses by bringing attention inward, allows the brain to calm down while maintaining a wakeful state of rest.  The use of an anchor, like the breath, a word or phrase, or candle flame helps to focus attention and deepen concentration.  In this way, meditation fosters both calmness and alertness by training the mind to work with clarity and focus.    In creating the space necessary to make conscious choices, we begin to attract more of what’s good for us and less of what is not.  

In cultivating mindfulness with meditation, we discover an enhanced understanding of people, situations and things which helps us respond more wisely in work and life.  

 
 

Mindful Task Management

 From work obligations to personal responsibilities, there’s much to keep track of with all we should, could and have agreed to do. Capturing and getting those things done can be downright overwhelming for some, especially when trying to keep track of it all in our heads.  

The more we try to remember, the more cluttered our brains become. Our ability to think and solve problems is impaired because there’s part of the brain that’s actively thinking about all that’s floating around.  We can relieve the brain of unresolved anxiety by simply capturing and organizing things appropriately.
